Two Indicted in Baldwin County for Alleged Scheme to Defraud Oconee Center Community Service Board
BALDWIN COUNTY – LATINA THOMPSON, 43, of Sandersville and SHELDONNA WILLIAMS, 39, of Haddock, Georgia were recently indicted on one count of Racketeering, three counts of Forgery in the Third Degree, and three counts of Theft by Taking.
According to the charges contained in the indictment and other public records: The defendants are alleged to have engaged in a scheme to fraudulently take money from the Oconee Center Community Service Board (Oconee CSB) through the use of forged and stolen Oconee CSB checks.
The Milledgeville Police Department and the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) investigated this matter. OIG is committed to safeguarding State Government resources that should be in the rightful possession of those most in need. They work tirelessly with their partners to ensure those that who seek to abuse the system are held accountable for their actions.
Members of the public are reminded that the indictment only contains charges. The defendant is presumed innocent of the charges, and it will be the state’s burden to prove the defendant’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt at trial.
The Georgia Office of the Attorney General is prosecuting the case.
