Woman Pleads Guilty To Piedmont Technical College Foundation Theft
Today, November 9, 2015, Akiah Smith Holder pled guilty to one count of Theft by Taking (O.C.G.A. §16-8-2) in DeKalb County Superior Court.
Ms. Holder admitted from June 1, 2012 through October 20, 2012 of using the Piedmont Technical College Foundation credit card to make purchases benefiting herself and others in the amount of $2,612.18. She was employed in an administrative position with the Piedmont Technical College Foundation, and in that capacity had access to the Foundation credit card.
Ms. Holder entered a negotiated plea to one count of theft by taking. DeKalb County Superior Court Judge Scott sentenced Ms. Holder under the First Offender Act to 2 years of probation and $2,612.18 restitution. The State nolle prosequied the remaining counts of the indictment.
Investigator Liana Rummel of the State Inspector General’s office investigated the case, and it was prosecuted by Assistant Attorney General Laura Pfister.
