State Government Job Applicant Pleads Guilty to Providing False Statements
On September 1, 2016, Alice Jones pled guilty to two counts of false statements (O.C.G.A. §16-10-20) in Fulton County Superior Court. Ms. Jones was sentenced under the First Offender Act to serve two years of probation and $1,000.00 fine plus applicable surcharges.
In 2014, Ms. Jones submitted a falsified job application to the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning. She misrepresented her education credentials and her employment history.
The case was initiated based on information from the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning’s Human Resources Department. The case was investigated by the State of Georgia Office of Inspector General former Deputy Inspector General Bill Donaldson and former Investigator Bethan Browning. The Georgia Office of the Attorney General’s Senior Assistant Attorney General Daniel Hiatt prosecuted the case on behalf of the State of Georgia.
