The State of Georgia, Office of the State Inspector General (OIG), is a statutory office tasked with investigating fraud, waste, abuse, and corruption affecting the State of Georgia executive branch agencies. OIG additionally conducts evaluations and audits of state programs and agency-specific policies and procedures and provides trainings to state agencies on the detection and prevention of fraud.

In addition to an Inspector General and Deputy Inspector General(s), OIG is comprised of investigators, auditors, criminal analysts, and administrative staff.

Special Agent 1 

OIG Investigators are classified as certified Georgia Peace Officers, and they enforce the criminal laws of the State of Georgia. Specifically, they investigate criminal activities, execute search warrants, conduct surveillance operations, interview persons in connection with criminal cases being investigated, prepare detailed investigative reports, assist in prosecution of cases, testify in court, recover fraudulently obtained property, gather criminal intelligence, apprehend wanted persons, and perform other related law enforcement duties.
