On Tuesday, May 8, 2018, former Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) Inspector Sandra J. Stevens, f/k/a “Sandra J. Putnam”, was indicted with four (4) counts of mail fraud and three (3) counts of federal program theft by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Georgia. The indictment follows an investigation of Stevens abusing her position as a high-ranking member of the GBI by ringing up more than 325 personal charges, totaling over $60,000.00 on her government credit card.

This case was initially referred to the Office of the State Inspector General (OIG) by the Department of Administrative Services and investigated by the GBI. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jeffrey W. Davis and Jolee Porter are prosecuting the case.
